Recycling in Prince George
Nechako Bottle Depot is well known as the place to take your used bottles, cans and various beverage containers. We are also a place for you to bring other recycled items like unused paint and electronics. We encourage you to review our services and the parameters around each item.
Hazardous and Flammable Household Items
While Nechako Bottle Depot does accept hazardous household materials for recycling, there are some limitations and rules.
Some helpful reminders include:
- Only consumer products are accepted. No industrial or specialty products are accepted at this time.
- All returned pesticides must be in their original package/container.
- All returned flammable liquids must be in a ULC-approved container.
- All containers must be sealed.
Flammable Liquid Recycling
To be returned, flammable liquids must display the flammable symbol or have a label with a phrase similar to “keep away from open spark or flame.” The maximum accepted container size for flammable liquids is 10 litres.
Accepted flammable liquid materials include:
- Acetone
- BBQ lighter fluid
- Camping fuel
- Fondue fuel
- Furniture stripper
- Kerosene
- Flammable degreaser
- Flammable lubricants
- Flammable liquid adhesives
- Flammable fuel treatment and additives
- Methanol
- Methyl Hydrate
- Mineral spirits
- Paint stripper
- Paint thinner
- Paint and varnish remover
- Turpentine
- Varsol
- Other flammable solvents
Gasoline Recycling
Nechako Bottle Depot will only accept gasoline in an approved ULC container. For safety reasons, the gasoline container cannot be returned to the consumer at drop-off.
Accepted gasoline materials include:
- Leftover gasoline
- Stale gasoline
- Old gasoline that is contaminated with oil or water
- A maximum container of 25 litres
